We got a glimpse of WKU’s football schedule for 2023 and it puts Homecoming and the 72nd Student Publications Breakfast… up in the air!
The schedule released today has NO home games on Saturdays in October — and the only home game at all in October is on a TUESDAY against Liberty. So I think we can rule out Homecoming in October.
What about September? The only candidate would seem to be Middle Tennessee on Sept. 28 — a THURSDAY. And that’s more likely to be tied into Parent and Family Weekend.
So it’s on to November. There are two Saturday home games in November — the 11th and the 18th — and they’re against nobody teams. So my bet is on Nov. 11 vs. New Mexico State.
In fact, the WKU schedule is loaded with Tuesday and Thursday games, which does little for folks who might like to come to BG for a game. Thursdays on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5, and Tuesdays on Oct. 17 and 24. There is no game on Saturday, Oct. 28, which has been the slot where Homecoming has fallen on many years.
We’ll let you know more when we hear more, but it’s likely to be months. So go ahead and pencil Nov. 11 on your calendar. That’s what I’m betting on.
