You’re invited to join us on Thursday, Sept. 5, as we mark a century of excellence for our Talisman!
Alumni and friends are welcome at this student-focused open house, geared to helping our students celebrate our oldest publication, which has earned distinction as both a yearbook and as a life and culture magazine and website. Please register using the form below no later than Aug. 29 so we can secure parking and plan for the event.
Talisman is one of the most honored collegiate publications in the nation, achieving 22 national Pacemaker Awards from Associated Collegiate Press, the preeminent honor for student-run media. Talisman, which won its first Pacemaker in 1978, is in the ACP Hall of Fame and is among the 100 most honored student-run publications in the century-long history of the Pacemaker Awards.
Since it was first published in 1924, the Talisman has chronicled life on the Hill through the transformation of the university from Western Kentucky State Normal School to WKU. Talisman has been the college home of a long line of exceptional journalists who have gone on to achieve excellence in a variety of careers.
Help us celebrate the storied journey of the Talisman at our open house, 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, with a program at 3:45 p.m. While we know this event is during the week, we welcome Talisman alumni (and anyone else) to join us for this casual gathering, meet the current staff and help us celebrate a century of excellence!
