WKU Student Publications is hiring an adviser for our Cherry Creative branded content studio and Talisman life and culture magazine. This job, one of five professional staff positions for the program, is a 12-month, salaried position that plays an integral role in our success and carries standard university benefits, including a generous amount of paid time off.
We’re looking for a colleague who has a passion for journalism, a focus on cutting-edge media and an entrepreneurial spirit.
With dedicated and talented students, passionate and generous alumni and strong support from the university, WKU Student Publications is recognized as one of the nation’s top student media groups.
We have four student-led divisions — Talisman magazine, College Heights Herald news organization, Student Publications Advertising sales force and Cherry Creative branded content studio. Together, our students have won 50 national Pacemaker Awards from Associated Collegiate Press, the premier honor in student media. Talisman and the College Heights Herald are both members of the ACP Hall of Fame, and both are among The Pacemaker 100, with the Herald ranking No. 6 on The Pacemaker 100 Top 10.
For the areas this position advises, the Talisman has won 22 Pacemakers and Cherry Creative, our newest division launched in 2018, has won three — the first Innovation Pacemaker in 2020 and two Student Media Business Pacemakers with Student Publications Advertising in 2024 and 2025.

Our campus, atop a hill known as College Heights, is known for its scenic beauty and for excellent academic and sports programs and facilities. WKU’s media programs are also among the best, with the School of Media & Communication ranking in the top eight of the Hearst Journalism Awards Intercollegiate Overall competition for 32 consecutive years, finishing second in 2024-25.
