The College Heights Herald is a finalist for the 2024 Newsmagazine Pacemaker, the Associated Collegiate Press announced on Tuesday.
The Herald, led by Alexandria Anderson during 2023-24, had a strong year online and in print, with some exceptional enterprise stories and a powerful editorial that demanded better leadership from the WKU administration.
The Herald also led a project that involved student news organizations at seven of Kentucky’s eight public universities to shine light on what would be lost if the Kentucky General Assembly outlawed diversity programs on the Commonwealth’s campuses. That project is a finalist for the 2024 Innovation Pacemaker.
Since winning its first Pacemaker in 1981, the Herald has won the award 23 times, with two coming during the 2023-24 academic year. The Herald is a ACP Hall of Fame and is noted as the sixth most successful student media outlet in the century-long history of the Pacemaker Awards.
