WKU Student Publications, which traces its roots to the Talisman in 1924 and the College Heights Herald in 1925, will officially celebrate its Centennial Weekend on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, on the WKU campus.
Talisman, Volume 1
College Heights Herald, Volume 1, Issue 1

The event, celebrating 100 years of our nationally acclaimed flagship publications, will feature three gatherings:

  • An open house and reception, 5-7 p.m., on Friday, April 25, at the Adams-Whitaker Student Publications Center on the main campus. The open house will include a panel of Herald and Talisman alumni; a silent auction of Student Pubs and WKU memorabilia; appetizers and a bar. Attire: Business casual.
  • The Student Publications Centennial Celebration and Luncheon, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., on Saturday, April 26, at the Knicely Conference Center on WKU’s South Campus. The catered lunch will include special Centennial presentations; remarks by Bob “Mr. A” Adams; presentations of the College Heights Herald Award for Outstanding Contributions to Journalism, the Talisman Award for Outstanding Contributions in Communications and a special Friend of Student Publications Award; recognition of student staff members graduating in May and the awarding of scholarships funded through 12 endowments created by our alumni and friends. Jerry Brewer, Herald co-editor in 2000 and national sports columnist for The Washington Post, will deliver the keynote. Attire: Business.
  • An informal drop-in open house at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at the home of Chuck Clark, 1658 Chestnut Street, adjacent to the WKU campus. Attire: Casual.
